Shoreline shellfish

During a short break at Kangaroo Bay, I took a few shots with my phone.

Kangaroo Bay, across the River Derwent from Hobart.
Limpets – aquatic snails with a conical shell shape and a strong, muscular foot.
Chiton mollusc from the class Polyplacaphora and tiny barnacles.
Blue Muscles and wild oysters.

    1. I’ve seen them before but didn’t know what they were called – so looked them up 🙂 I didn’t realise Limpets were a type of snail either! The things we learn blogging 😀

      1. Absolutely, especially that many of my followers and frequent commenters are from different corners of the earth – WordPress is quite a bit different than most other platforms I’ve used – in a good way 😀

  1. I always enjoy a walk along the shore because of all the foreign, almost alien, things that you might find there – having lived inland all my life being the reason, I suppose, that they look so otherworldly. Great job at showing them off so beautifully!

    1. Thank you so much. Living on an island, I’m never too fat away from the water and was brought up around boats. To me, it would seem strange not to have it around you 🙂

    1. The Derwent is a LOT cleaner now than it used to be, but I would hesitate to eat these wild ones due to heavy metals still in the river from past industries 😦
