I spotted this little fella/lady on my postie run, lucky I always carry my camera!

I first tried a focus stack, but that didn’t work because he kept moving and the camera was hand held. This in the one shot from the stack where his eye was bang on in focus. Oly EM1 II; 60mm Macro; 1/50 sec; f/4.0; ISO 200.
Below is the cropped in version, click to zoom any pic.

And as second single manual shot:

Is it any wonder that the creators of science fiction show space creatures as looking like giant insects?

I guess it looks beautiful to another Katydid, it had slender long jumping legs like a grasshopper 🦗

It was quite friendly and tolerant of me coaxing it to face the camera 😀

I’d follow him, seemed like a real friendly party animal who could make a mean cocktail 🍸!!

I used to be scared of them when I was little but now I think they’re amazing! I especially love the closeup of the eyes- like a million eyes in one! 🙂

They do look a little alien, but he was friendly! I wasn’t sure if he was looking at me or the tattooed girl who started chatting to me about cameras!

Lovely macros! I have recently began to focus stack, and understand the frustration of live subjects.

Thanks 🤩 Though I haven’t done it, I’ve heard you can pop bugs into the freezer for 10 or 20 minutes, doesn’t kill or freeze them but slows them down for a bit.

I have done it for moths, usually in the fridge to slow there metabolisom and it does work to some degree.
