A new postcard design with Tasmanian animals – I need to find a platypus to photograph.
WILDLIFE, TASMANIA:
- Bennetts Wallaby on kunanyi – Mt Wellington, have much thicker fur due to the cold temperatures. Common over much of Tasmania, they can grow to 1.5 metres tall.
- Tasmanian Devil is the world’s biggest carnivorous marsupial with one of the most powerful bites in the world and can eat up to 40% of their body weight in one day. They mostly scavengers that can swim and climb trees.
- Echidnas from Tasmania have longer fur that partially obscures the spines. They are a monotreme related to the Platypus and can not tollerate heat. They hibernate June-July.
