Ralph beach run

We took Ralph – “the boy in a dog suit”, to Kingston Beach for his second off lead run! I took the OM-1 for a walk too with the weather-sealed Oly 14-150mm F4.0-5.6 II lens, so I didn’t have to worry about sand and water.

Little Ralph, a Labradoodle, is about 15 months old now, but his recall and attention span aren’t the best. He’s easily distracted, much like me! I haven’t posted in a while as it’s been a busy time of year and I’ve been on the mountain bike – a lot! So happy New Year ๐Ÿ˜€

I took HEAPS of photos using Pro-capture mode, Animal Tracking, C-AF, Shutter Priority, with settings varying around 1/1600 sec; f/5.6; ISO 640. The hit rate was pretty good given Ralph was running around like an idiot!

He’s due for a haircut in a week or so, which is why I was keen to get photos of him all fluffy and super cute, but it did make picking out shots seeing his eyes somewhat tricky with all that hair bouncing around!

I can run REALLY FAST!

The shot below is my favourite, a bit of a bank drops off to the water and he flew up it with his best Super-dog impression!

I can FLY!

After running around for a bit, he decided unexpectedly to cool off in the water! He’s never been sure of it before so this was his first real dip.

I’m not sure how to SWIM :/

There’s another wave coming Ralph!

See how he emerged as a drenched little monster, in the next post!
Thanks for visiting ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. Ralph is a beautiful dog, Tone! He is the same breed as my dad’s dog. They have a great personality, very playful yet a protector too. It’s good to see you back, happy New Year!

      1. He likes to turn the telly off. probably to get our attention – and bark at dogs, elephants and anything else that catches his attention on TV! He loves watching Shrek, I think it’s the donkey that captivates him!

    1. Thanks Anneli, he loves the beach and life in general. He’s just getting old enough now to be trusted off the lead in short bursts – like me, he has a short attention span ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thanks Denise, I used the Olympus “Pro-Capture” mode to get a series of frames and picked out the best one ๐Ÿ˜€
It’s great to finally be able to let him off the lead and he seems to enjoy the freedom!

  2. He must be an absolute pleasure to have around (and it looks like he’s going to keep you very busy … next time we hear from you again, it will be by Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚)!
    You go Superdog Ralph!

    1. He’s like having a live teddy bear! He loves everyone and seeks out pats, and he is a real prankster, always stealing our socks, shoes and TV remotes! It’s not so funny for us anymore, but he’s never in trouble for very long, super cute and he knows it!!
He also watches TV intently like no other dog I’ve seen, barking at sheep, cows and elephants to keep them out of our loungeroom. He loves Donkey from Shrek, doesn’t bark at him but tilts his head like he’s listening and understanding intently. A handful of mischief but lots of fun!
