Firstly, to get a sense of scale, at left below is the tip of my finger!

There’s been plenty of rain at the start of summer here, which has also brought on some fungi. I spotted this lovely group of little red ones on my return home from orchid hunting.

My shot was photobombed by bugs! below is the focus stacked image, remarkably both the bugs eyes are in focus!

Below is a cropped version of the image above.

The image above is a single jpeg file, unedited, straight from the camera.
The same image below is the RAW file, edited in DXO Photolab7.
Check out the detail in the eyes and body compared to above!

Thanks for visiting,
Tone.
Red fungai is so rare to see

Now you mention it, I’ve only seen two or three types of red ones. One of them is even smaller than these!

Wied looking, I’ve never seen one this color!

I don’t see them often because they are so small and usually hidden by leaves. I got lucky ๐

Thanks Anneli, it’s taken me a little while to get my head around DxO and trying to get the best out of it without overdoing things, but it’s been worth the effort ๐

Stunning red color !
I’m not quite sure how you mean it in the comparison, anyway the camera Jpg is already great.
I think you can also get a little more detail from that camera JPG, without too much loss of quality.
Especially because the colors of the camera JPG are already so natural and beautiful, personally I think those of the DXO are slightly less.
But, of course, that’s a matter of taste.
They’re great anyway Tone !

Red is often a challenge to capture correctly, I generally under expose 1 or 2 stops so it doesn’t blow out or oversaturate and lose detail.
While the camera Jpegs are good, I almost always edit RAW files to have more control over highlights and shadows as well as fine detail and rarely look at the jpg file for reference (I probably should).
The exception is in-camera stacked images that only produces a final stacked jpeg.
