A new orchid

Firstly let me bore you with the old faithful Purple Beard which I visit most days before I get onto “FIND OF THE DAY”.

After spending some time admiring Purple Beard and enjoying it’s smile, I begrudgingly set off for home as it was time to get ready for … work :/ I walked down a track I often take back home, hurrying, running late, still scanning sides of the track in hope of a new find. Then, I saw it. Tiny!

I sat my camera down on the track near it, tied Ralphie dog up to a nearby tree and went back to view my prize … though I knew where it was, I couldn’t see it! Had I imagined it? It took a good 5 minutes before I found it hidden on the forest floor, these are similar but much smaller than the Greenhood Orchid I posted previously and so hard to see in the undergrowth!

I only took this one photo and hurried home … I couldn’t wait until tomorrow …

    1. Thank you, they are incredibly intricate for their size and every time I visit they have changed. Any kind of breeze is the biggest challenge trying to photograph them.

    1. Thanks, I found a spider on tge orchid bud last night:D The first bud image is from the same beard plant – it has 3! The top one STILL hasn’t opened.
The last pics are a new species find for me, a Maroonhood, similar to the Greenhood but much smaller and even harder to spot!
