(11 Photos) – We called in to this iconic shop just before we headed off home late in the afternoon. It is the last place to get supplies on the road to Lake Pedder. Or rather, it was the last place, we were probably the last customers to order hamburgers on it’s last day of trading.
This institution has been sold and the new owners will not be continuing the store, which leaves the new Maydena Bike Park and The Giant’s Table as the few places to still get a feed.
Below are some photos from a wander around the town of Maydena.

It seems wrong to not continue the food venue at that location. The railroad tracks indicate that the ground has been moving a lot, wow.

The town was founded in early 1900 on the back of forestry and mining and the railway used for haulage. It may bode well for the Maydena bike park if they can take up the slack – so to speak.

Don’t know if you’ve been back since but there is a cafe restaurant in Maydena called Fika Time Cafe Restaurant. It’s been there for 3 years now. The town supports motorcyclists, general tourists, hikers, campers, fishing and mountain biking. The town has become more than just mountain biking. We also have rail track riders too.

Hi Mike, I haven’t been back to Maydeena for a while! Would love to go up for the Red Bull Rampage in February, but would lose to many $$ not attending Salamanca Market that time of year. I have holidays in May, so might get up then if it’s open. It was closed last holiday’s in September so we went to Derby instead.

It’s a little bit sad to see these buildings falling into ruin. You have to wonder at the stories these places have seen.

There’s now a Swedish, Austrian and Australian cafe at the other end of town. Fika Time Cafe 38 Kallista rd
