Unfortunately I didn’t spot this colourful 5mm mushroom until it was too late. After cutting down a Silver Wattle that had grown too big in the wrong place in my paddock, I was dragging branches across the grass when I saw the bright stem rainbow colours on the inside of this broken little fungi. I put it to one side and photographed it after I packed up, the colours had already began to fade as it dried out.
I’ve never seen anything quite like it previously and will keep and eye on the area where I located it in the hope of finding another.
