Sting in the tail

The Wood or Forest Scorpion – Cercophonius squama, is the only scorpion found in Tasmania. It is typically around 25–40 mm (0.98–1.57 in) long and can live for up to three years. Females can give birth to 20-30 live young and carry them on her back for two or more weeks. The sting can cause inflammation and pain for several hours, and medical advice should be sought.
