Winter Wonderland…

[10 photos] – Perfect weather down in Hobart. Weeks of cold, rainy, wet wintery weather with a dash of snow on the mountain. Perfect? Followed by 4 or 5 days of refreshing sun – with a few showers mixed in. It’s still cold. Perfect for what? My favorite subject to photograph and share!!

Flowers? It is pretty, but surely you know me better than that by now!

The forest floor has come alive with a sudden flourish of fungi of course, not least, I’ve found a small patch of my favourite! But first, a few other’s pushing their way skyward through the leaf litter and bursting forth from rotting wood … what ever way they want!

And lastly, a tease of what is to come! I’ve been photographing a small patch of my favorite tiny blue wonders for two days, and I hope to return again tomorrow. The window of perfection for these beauties is very short, miss a day, and it’s too late! I was lucky enough to check around an area where I found some last year, just as the pin-head sized caps were beginning to form. I was back the next day with my camera to capture these beautiful blue bursting fruits …

To see what these little blue eggs turn into, you’ll have to wait for the next post!

Thanks for visiting – look, and you shall find. Maybe.

    1. Thank you kindly ๐Ÿ˜€ I have heard Tasmania referred to as “the fungi capital of the world”, but I don’t know if that is true. We do have a tremendous assortment of them and orchids, so we’re probably punching above our weight. It’s a lovely temperate zone with a similar latitude to Spain but below the equator. It was once part of a huge southern land mass called Gondwanaland.

    1. Thank you, I keep thinking I see things out the corner of my eye while I’m photographing these, but when I look, there’s nothing there! I think the fairies might be playing tricks with me ๐Ÿ˜€
