Tarkine Sinkhole

Continuing along the Tarkine loop, we stopped to visit another sinkhole and a peaceful meandering river.

I went to bed early last night with the intention of editing more images this morning – but it’s just too nice today to sit on the PC so I’m off for a walk with Ralphie. We went to Dark MoFo’s Winter Feast and Dark Park in Hobart on Sunday night, I took my camera and a few photos but I want to finish off this Tarkine series first 😀

Music: Not another 70’s band, but much more recent, Velvet Trip is a Sydney based, Psychedelic Blues group. I stumbled upon this rather obscure Aussie band a few months ago and can’t believe they somehow got missed or overlooked even by the likes of Triple J. If you enjoy “Voodoo Cosmic Girl” below, take a dive into their first album from 2019 “Velvet trip & the Six Moon Skies” – in one word, brilliant! It was hard to pick a favourite.

  1. That’s a huge sinkhole, Tone! I’d stay clear of that. That song was great! I hear a bit of 60s sounds in there too. I’ll have a look at the band’s website.

    1. Glad you enjoyed Velvet Trip John, I held back saying they were Hendrix like, but I feel there’s a definite influence there. The Tarkine area is covered in sinkholes as the limestone underneath eroded and the surface collapsed. This one has been there a while. I did go close to get the shot – with protests from my wife – but anything for the money shot right? 😀

      1. Gotta get the money shot! Move over, Rover, let Jimmy Take Over! Imagine what his music could have become had he not died so young.

    1. Thanks Morgaine, I agree and while I like Jimi, extremely talented but I can’t seem to listen to him for very long. Velvet Trip on the other hand, I had their album on full rotation for a week or three after I first heard it, the story is great and there’s some amazing earworms that get stuck in you head!
