Fungi Fixation

(12 photos, click to enlarge) – I took my 16 year old doggo Stormy for a slow amble up in the bush behind my place. It was a last second decision to grab my camera … just in case. With both of our noses to the ground, we headed off!

You’d think I’d be sick of it by now … nope, there’s always something new to find.

The fungi up here are different than the ones down near the rivulet. I didn’t take a tripod, so these are taken with the camera sitting on the ground or log, using sticks to get the right angle.

We were only gone about half an hour and didn’t walk far. On our way back past the neighbours frozen pond, I spotted a Padymelon nearby and two rabbits across the pond. It’s not snow that you can see, after a some clear cold nights, a few places in the valley that don’t get the sun in mid winter have frost on frost on frost!

The fungi below were found on my property. I forgot to take my old-man glasses and didn’t realise the black bits bellow are bugs! Click to zoom in.

While the Olympus EM1 II was busy exposing and stacking 15 images, I spotted this beautiful juicy little red one nearby. I think it us a younger fungi of that above.

the fungi below were growing in a pile of old pony poo, I’ve never seen this one before.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little winter walk with the doggo and I, thanks for visiting.

      1. Thank you. My blog is really a writing one with a few photos for illustration. My photography is just on my phone – and even the lens cover on that is scratched now. I should really get a proper camera, I’d like to be able to take decent photos having seen some of yours.

      2. I use my phone camera a fair bit too, the best camera is the one you have with you 🙂 I do love the Olympus EM1 II though, I bought most of my current gear second-hand, if you’re patient you can find them in great condition for a good price.
