I recognized the chiton, as I have a small chiton shell from our local waters. Some of the shellfish are the same the world over.

I always enjoy a walk along the shore because of all the foreign, almost alien, things that you might find there – having lived inland all my life being the reason, I suppose, that they look so otherworldly. Great job at showing them off so beautifully!

Thank you so much. Living on an island, I’m never too fat away from the water and was brought up around boats. To me, it would seem strange not to have it around you 🙂

The Derwent is a LOT cleaner now than it used to be, but I would hesitate to eat these wild ones due to heavy metals still in the river from past industries 😦
